2010 Toy Run a chilly success - Saturday, 11 December 2010

There was a good turnout for the 2010 Toy Run with Colin S filling the role of Santa again. We were warmly welcomed at both destinations and all made it home dry if not warm.

September Rallies - Monday, 27 September 2010

First rally this September was the Isle of Wight Classic and British Club on the traditional speedway track site at Ryde. Cut price tickets again from the Wightlink ferry people got us over to Fishbourne in no time and with good bands on Friday and Saturday nights the Bexley dance team and Chris Biggs were back on form. Weather-wise, a fine Saturday allowed a run out to the steam railway with a meal at the Coach & Horses pub tested out by Phil and I last year - good grub. My camera only got one photo prior to the batteries failing. A fine time had by all and a safe but wet ride home to the Pied Bull.

Second rally was the Concorde Rally at the new site of Chippenham Sports Club. I arrived on site at about 2:30pm and set up next to Roy Shilling and Diane. Roy and Diane had brought their very nice 900 Trident outfit. In the bar I got chatting to Ken and Mary who had ridden up from Folkstone and we were still chatting when Ian & Julie, Gary & Jackie and later Phil Loom and Dave Clarke arrived to complete our club turnout. The new Concorde rally site is superb, good ground for camping and a modern clubhouse with cheap beer, a wide selection of ales and ciders and good food at reasonable prices. The entertainment, disco on Friday night and a band on Saturday did not live up to the high standard set last year, I got the impression that they were last minute bookings.

Anyway we had a dry Saturday, Phil went on the club run to a canal and some lock gates and the rest of us wandered into Chippenham for a look around and some pub grub. Again the ride home was a bit cold but not as wet as the ride there, I took more photos with fully charged batteries and we had a good time!
