Last year's barbecue being such a success, it was not a hard decision to make to have another one - at least except for those people who would be doing all the leg-work. Once again Gary, Jackie, Tracey and Pete effectively ran the show, firing up the grill for the early arrivals at eight o'clock and keeping it going for a couple of hours or so. We also put up a small display in the coach house, using some of the posters from the Hop Farm. One notable early arrival was Bill from Boyers riding their Rocket III demonstrator, Andy not having received his at that point. This was given pride of place in the car park and roped off with some hazard tape between four pub chairs! It certainly drew onlookers and comments all evening long and for many it would have been the first sighting of one except perhaps in the press.
Overall the numbers were slightly down on last year but not worryingly so. Prizes were given for best Meriden, best Hinckley and best British. After his expected disappointment at the BMF Garden Of England show Phil was now able to play his trump card in the shape of a revitalised T160 fresh from his garage and looking great. He scooped best Meriden and deservedly so. For best Hinckley the award went to a former Bexley member who had not been on the scene for a while. His black Trident Sprint was near-as-damn-it immaculate and belied its substantial mileage. Finally best British went to a fine Triton.
Thanks to all who helped out but obviously in particular Gary and Pete who kept the heat on the meat all evening and Jackie and Tracey who plucked the pounds from the punters and purveyed the produce.
