Ashdown Forest Run - article by Janneane Drew

Sunday, 3 October 2004

The last official run of the year took place on another grey day. It was dry when we set out but not for long! We had two new Triumph owners join us (Thunderbird and Adventurer) can only remember the name Chris (female) sorry, BMW Ray, Phil, Barry and myself.
Barry led us out through Otford, Hildenborough and Penshurst before checking the map for directions in the wilds of the Kent countryside. I took the opportunity of changing my sunny visor to one that I could actually see out of and to put all the waterproofs on. Barry foolishly didn't put his waterproof leggings on over his summer holey leathers and arrived a little wet! I led us down through the Ashdown Forrest (and mist and fog) and on to the Llama Park where we were greeted by the site of No Llamas but a nice cafe with very nice cakes.
Time was spent discussing the many uses of Llama wool and browsing in the shop for possible warm woolly socks! The journey home was dry and Ray led us back through to Tunbridge Wells and back to the pub. Sorry I didn't wave goodbye but I was near the back and automatically took a short cut in TW. I hope you all had a good trip, it would certainly be worth doing again in good weather.
