It was my first run of the year and 19 bikes turned up - what a good start. After the usual pictures being taken we all set off at around 10:30am. Lee Sykes led the way with Gary at the back and Steve working between the two. The route was well thought out and avoided all the traffic jams that all the other bikers seemed to encounter. We went through Maidstone, Headcorn, Tenterden and Appledore and arrived at Rye just to the usual traffic.
We all arrived together which is an achievement and we settled down for a cup of tea. A few had breakfast but the queues put most off. Gary had his bike photographed by the local rag and Tom and myself gate-crashed and had our photos taken too. After a short break we set off to Hastings, a few staying on at Rye to window shop. We arrived at Hastings only just getting space to park our bikes; it was packed not only with bikers but families in cars too. The weather, for a change, had got everybody out for a day at the seaside. It was said that there were over 20,000 bikes there, so it was inevitable that we would not all stay together, however we seemed to all find ourselves again in the pub before we set off home.
A very good day out and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
